A Gardener with a penchant for Drag

Tom Leonard is a professional horticulturist, speaker, presenter and the creative force behind Daisy Desire: The Drag Queen Gardener. Based in Warwickshire, Tom brings a wealth of gardening experience to every project — from private estates to public platforms — blending serious horticultural expertise with a refreshingly inclusive, irreverent spirit.

Tom is currently Senior Gardener at the Brownsover Hall Estate, where he is collaborating on the restoration and full redesign of the historic seven-acre grounds. From a neglected 19th-century walled garden to formal lawns and woodland backing onto a nature reserve, Tom is reimagining this landscape to match the site’s multi-million-pound transformation.

Alongside his work on the ground, Tom — and his alter ego Daisy — have become a cult figure in the gardening world and beyond. As Daisy, Tom has graced some of the UK’s most prestigious horticultural stages, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, RHS Hampton Court, and RHS Malvern. In 2025, he was featured in Gardens Illustrated as a Gardening Talent One to Watch.

An accomplished presenter and public speaker, Tom has had a number of TV appearances on shows such as BBC Gardners' World, Alan Titchmarsh's Gardening Club and Steph’s Packed Lunch, he is a regular voice on local radio, and has delivered talks everywhere from the University of Bristol and to the V&A Museum Dundee where he is an ambassador for their Garden Futures exhibition. Daisy has also collaborated with brands such as Hendrick’s Gin, Starbucks, Deliveroo, Clipper Tea, Gardena, and Greenfingers Charity — bringing their signature bold visibility, wit and style to every campaign.

But beyond the sequins and the spades lies a mission: to make gardening accessible, joyful and unapologetically inclusive. Daisy champions queer visibility, LGBTQ+ rights, and the mental wellbeing benefits of getting outside and getting growing. Whether in six-inch heels or steel-toe boots, Daisy and Tom invite everyone — regardless of background — to embrace their authentic selves through the power of plants.
