Gary Turk - Look Up (2014)
Gary Turk is an award-winning filmmaker and spoken word artist who was launched into the limelight following the global success of ‘Look Up’. The video which has attracted over 57 million views on YouTube, is a five minute spoken word performance mixed with a filmed narrative which looks at how overuse of the internet can disengage us from real relationships, human interactions and living in the real world.
The film has gone on to inspire masses across the globe and encourage people to ‘look up’. The short film has gained worldwide coverage including BBC News, Fox News and TIME. It was even parodied in the season finale of South Park on Comedy Central.
Gary has appeared on BBC Breakfast, The One Show, Good Morning Britain, Sunrise (Australia), and The Today Show (USA), among many others.
‘Look Up’ is currently the most viewed Spoken Word film on YouTube, and went on to win Best Viral Film at Cannes Media & TV Awards.
It also went on to win two gold awards at the 2015 Lovie Awards for Best Viral Film and Best Individual Performance, and was nominated in the 2016 Webby Awards for Best Viral Film.
At the end of 2014, YouTube officially announced ‘Look Up’ as one of the most trending videos of 2014.
Gary continues to make videos for YouTube, as well as performing live around the world.
